My Journey
Born on the beautiful land of Fairbanks, hailing from the rich ancestral lands of Egegik Village, and nurtured in the vibrant village of Chitina, Alaska, Christina embodies the strength and resilience of her heritage and each community that has raised her. Her notable contributions include serving as a member of the Trilateral Working Group for the United States, Mexico, and Canada; as a federal commissioner to the Not Invisible Act; and her recent appointment by the President to the federal Council on Human Trafficking.
My mission is healing for
the next 500 Generations.
how it started
With a deep commitment to multi-level systems change and advocacy for marginalized/targeted populations, Christina\'s journey has been shaped by her own experiences as a survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking. Christina is a formerly incarcerated individual in long-term recovery from IV heroin use and a person who has experienced homelessness and disabilities.
As an educator and storyteller, Christina focuses on the intersectionality of trauma, substance use, and mental health with a primary focus on hope and how we heal as individuals and communities. Christina is part of leading a collective movement that works to end violence, oppression, shame, and stigma through healing centred practices, the liberation of education, community care, and storytelling.

My Approach
Healing-Centred Engagement
Healing-centered practices are a transformative approach that moves beyond merely addressing trauma to actively fostering holistic well-being in individuals and communities. This method embraces the full complexity of human experiences, recognizing that healing is not just about overcoming past harm but also about cultivating joy, connection, and empowerment. It emphasizes the strengths and potential of individuals, integrating cultural roots and collective wellness to create spaces where people can thrive. Unlike trauma-informed care, which often focuses on managing symptoms and histories of trauma, healing-centered practices encourage an active engagement in creating well-being through strategies that enhance resilience, celebrate cultural heritage, and build supportive, empathetic communities. This approach seeks to transform not just individuals but also the environments that surround them, ensuring that healing is inclusive, accessible, and affirming of everyone's potential to grow and prosper.

My Why
The Heart Behind the Work
Everything I do is rooted in love—for my children, my family, my ancestors, and the communities that raised and carried me. They are my daily reminder of why this work matters. My story is not just one of survival but of healing, transformation, and legacy. These are the faces behind the fire that fuels me, the reason I get back up, speak truth, and fight for justice. They are my why—and every step I take is with them in my heart.
